Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCouldn’t park. The lift was very small and slow. The shower had nowhere to put soap, shower gel or shampoo, it wasn’t good having to bend down to the floor. The tv had only 7 channels
The room was spacious

United KingdomI did not feel it was value for money. The last time we stayed here, we paid half the price and we had a large room. Although the facilities in that room were old fashioned, it had charm. I'm afraid I'm not really a fan of the refurbishment - it looks quite cheap, in particular the brown MDF. And this time we paid over £160 and our room was poky - it was billed as a 'deluxe double room', so I really was expecting something a bit nicer for the price. It looked bland, like a Premier Inn. We didn't use the aircon as it makes my husband congested - we just opened the window, which was much nicer. I also think that for that price, a freshly cooked breakfast should be included. A school dinner breakfast where the hot food has been sitting in trays for a long time is never that nice. The coffee was also weak and tasteless.
The hotel is one of the better ones in Folkestone - great location on the seafront, nice facilities, clean rooms and decent breakfast. Being able to park for £5 a day outside the hotel is great - if you can get a space. I feel this information should be clearly stated on the website and when you book. I had to send several messages and call the hotel to find out about the parking. The staff at the hotel were friendly.

United KingdomHot food was warm not hot. Melon was underripe and only option for toast was white bread. Restaurant was cold. In my opinion bread should be included with the soup, not offered for an addition £4.50 Cheese platter at dinner was basic - biscuits not as described and no fruit or celery. Disappointing. Green salad was mixed leaves only, description should be better.

United KingdomTV was in a bit of an awkward place, the furnishings in the room were a bit tired and window would have been better if bigger.
Breakfast was lovely, liked the inclusion of mushrooms, fresh tea and coffee brought to the table and the sour dough bread. Having the bedroom cleaned was great and the view of the sea amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful.

United KingdomNo parking at the hotel. Only available on road (if spaces) or in a carpark nearby. It was very windy and the window rattled until we wedged a piece of cardboard into the window to stop the rattling. Left before breakfast was served and received a packed lunch replacement. I think this could have been a bit more imaginative rather than just a sandwich, apple and drink, however better than nothing. Staff on phone prior to booking were very pleasant and helpful. Staff during stay less so.
Location and room really nice, good size room very clean and comfortable.

RussiaI wasn't prepared to be given a sudden lecture from a receptionist and pay 100 pounds for it. This woman told to my face that is was not appropriate to leave the tissues on the floor of the room -- my toddler left them, so what? Is it considered some kind of an additional british service -- to listen to the thoughts of some receptionist about what I should or should not do? It ruined all the impression about the hotel, and left me in tears in the hall. Visit the sandy beach again? Yes, maybe. Stay at the Clifton hotel? Definitely no.
The room was big and very clean, with the view to the inner garden and the sea. Comfy beds, although the linen and towels are very old and yellow from multiple washes. The restaurant is very nice, tasty food and excellent service.

United KingdomConfiguration of the shower room was odd and made it all a little cramped. No mirror above the dresser and near the sockets.
Most of the staff were very pleasant. Renovations were taking place at the time but that was well managed. Food was OK. Rooms a little small but ok for an overnighter.
