The staff were good and friendly. I would suggest they don't scrape the food from one plate to another at the table. Otherwise efficient. There were no lounge areas and sofas to relax on outside of the room or dining room. Weather was cold so did not sit outside.

Although the room was comfortable and the decor was interesting, the windows appeared to be poorly maintained and showed evidence of mould.

Comfortable and breakfast was good with plenty of options. It is reasonably close to York's historic centre if you're happy walking.

The restaurant, we booked breakfast for two days but after extremely poor service on the first day 7 people cancelled the second day

Decent breakfast, good facilities. Room was massive. Plenty room for our double bed and the daughters single bed. Still loads of floor space. Car parking right across street.

Both as we arrived and when we left, there were piles of dirty laundry left outside our room. There were no USB charging points which I think are pretty much standard these days. Also - there were no windows that we could open in our room - just one small one in the bathroom.

we had breakfast which was great but we asked the waiter if he could make us both a coffee out of the coffee machine behind the counter because the one in the breakfast area was not very nice at all, he said it would be charged extra! very disappointed to be honest, we had paid for breakfast surely coffee should be provided,

The hotel has paid parking (£10/night) which is limited, at the busiest times you may not find a space, forcing you to park at a private car park across the road from the hotel, which is expensive (£18/24hrs). The night time staff can be rude at times. The hotel bar doesn't have a menu, so you end up ordering drinks without knowing the prices, and they end up being quite expensive!

Elmbank is a beautiful period hotel with a great lobby for taking photos in. The rooms are all excellently furnished allowing you to have a comfortable stay. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom looked stunning! The TV in the rooms are large as well. Make sure to bring a laptop to connect to the TV as they don't have apps installed. The hotel has a good restaurant where you can start your day with a solid English Breakfast. The staff are helpful and willing to accomodate you however they can.

I was located in one of the newer 'Courtyard' rooms, It was very clean and comfortable with an excellent shower room. The only criticism I would make is that although there was a small amount of hanging space in one half of the wardrobe there was absolutely no shelf or cupboard space in the room to put other items of clothing, if, like me, you were staying for a few days. I had to put my folded shirts on top of the fridge in the second part of the wardrobe and keep the rest of my things in my suitcase. It certainly took the edge of the 'Ooh, this is nice' factor.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the breakfast choices were very good. IT was only a gentle 15 minute walk into the centre of the city so, for the price was very well situated.

I didn't like the coffee. I had to ask, on each of the three days we were there, for the heating system to stop pumping cold air into our room, as the weather was unseasonally cold! A very limited selection of beers.

Very nice breakfast, with lots of choice, and plenty of space in the breakfast room. The hotel was really nice, with impressive decor, and the staff were lovely.

The breakfast was poor, we went down for breakfast towards the end of service and there was no food left, what was left was cold and there was no bread for toast and the staff were busy in other parts of the hotel.

Clean and comfortable loved the Art Deco furnishings and decor. It was stunning. Great breakfast, and we enjoyed a couple of drinks in the bar. A short walk into town, but there is also a bus stop just outside too.

Nothing really though there wasn't much room between the bedside and window /wall.I found it quite awkward being 85 I was frightened of tripping up.

Excellent choice even though we didn't eat too much but it was there if wanted and cooked to our satisfaction.Lovely dining room.
