Although it’s a beautiful building, it needs a lot of work. The beds are not comfortable. The windows are painted shut so it was very warm. A lot of peeling paint and worn/torn carpet. The bar has a great view, but it’s too warm to enjoy.

    Location, friendly staff

Many flights of stairs with the dog and luggage, although with slow lift access. Car parking did not come with accommodation.

Friendly staff, good breakfast, big room, with big bath and our dog could be with us. Easy walk to everywhere is Oban.

room had been refurbished but paintwork not done. Window had been smashed and covered with cardboard/sealer. Room not cleaned adequately and there was a tablet on the floor when we entered room. Tea/coffee facilities were basic - no biscuits and coffee machine had only decaf. Breakfast was good but basic. No cold buffet (meat/cheese etc) Hot buffet food very good but no fired eggs only scrambled and no haggis, black pudding, mushrooms etc. Tea and coffee ready made in flasks ...not great. Very self service . Access to hotel difficult for people with disabilities Repeat stay at Great Western didn't meet previous standards and certainly not a superior room

View is excellent over Oban Bay and islands. room was newly refurbished but had many faults (see negatives)

Breakfast choice not great. No boiled eggs no fried eggs no black pudding. Window in room had a big gap at either end and it didn’t open properly or close properly

Sea view was great. Room comfortable and clean. Great location. Window wasn’t great as it didn’t open or close properly as sash was missing

When I made my reservation I specified that I would need a parking space. I then received an email asking me to call the morning of my arrival. In fact, the person at the front desk told me when I called that it was an automated message that should have been deleted and that the 20 or so spots were on a first come first served basis. I actually stayed two nights and had to park my car in a public parking lot 200 meters away.

    Nothing 😑

Room is very tired and very dated. Bathroom needs a complete overhaul. Breakfast was OK - Not the best quality and no haggis?!? Embarrassed this is what tourists experience in the heart of Scotland. £341 for 2 nights (small double) bed and breakfast - wish we'd booked a Premier Inn.

Location and the view from our window.
