Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

A Gem in Kyoto's Heart ♥️ A Haven of Modern Comfort and Traditional Charm Having spent six weeks traversing Japan and staying in over 20 hotels, I can confidently say Agora Kyoto Kamaruma stands out as a truly exceptional experience. Nestled in the heart of Kyoto, this fairly new four-star property seamlessly blends modern design with calming Japanese influences. 🌟 Modern Meets Tranquility The hotel's interior boasts beautiful colors and stunning Japanese rock art, creating a visually captivating yet serene ambiance. The rooms, while perfectly sized for solo travelers or couples, are a revelation. They're not just spacious; they feature the most comfortable beds I've encountered in all of Japan. 🌟 Exceptional Service Beyond Expectations What truly elevates Agora is the impeccable Kyoto service. The staff embodies the essence of Japanese hospitality, making you feel like royalty even in a four-star setting. Manager June Mantsui deserves special recognition. From the moment I arrived, his genuine warmth and attentiveness ensured a truly comfortable and unforgettable stay. It's no wonder the hotel receives such rave reviews! 🌟 Convenience at Your Doorstep Location is key, and [Hotel Name] doesn't disappoint. Situated in the heart of Kyoto, you'll find two supermarkets, three mini-marts, and bus lines all within easy reach. Whether you're exploring the city or relaxing in your haven, everything you need is at your fingertips. A 9.5 Out of 10 🌟 If you seek a hotel that excels in cleanliness, cutting-edge design, authentic Japanese elements, undeniable convenience, and unparalleled service, look no further than Agora Kyoto Karasuma It's a 9.5 out of 10 for me, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

United KingdomThere is a set breakfast which, for me, was too much and contained things I didn't want so we're wasted.
Lovely modern room, light wood furniture. Having refreshing drinks in reception-water or roasted green tea- is a nice touch. Great location, easy to reach various parts of the city. We were able to store our luggage for a few hours before our departure.

RomaniaNot particularly bad, but I would have appreciate a buffet type of breakfast. It was the same meal every day (I know it is common in Japan)
I booked a double twin room and had plenty of space. I like that the shower was in a separate room. The room was clean and the staff friendly. The TV had streaming services on it.

United StatesThe lack of light, both natural and electrical. There was a window, but as the hotel butted up against the building next-door, and they frosted the glass, very little light got into the room. An overhead light in the the room would’ve been helpful. All the interior lighting was coming from smaller side lights. The location was okay, it was about 30 minutes from Kyoto station by bus or subway + walking.
I thought my room was excellent value for the money The room was modern, compact, clean and completely self-contained. Everything was in one room; Two comfortable beds, a wash hand basin, a little tea area with a small table and chairs, A rack to hang up clothes. The toilet and shower were in two separate small rooms with doors on them. They had hot drinks and water in lobby at all times. Great seating area with tables in lobby, which were nice as the rooms were small so you could come downstairs and do some trip planning on a table. Staff were very helpful.

Breakfast was good. Not a whole of choices either that is set in a Japanese bento box. The bus stop number 50 is right outside hotel that takes you to the nightingale castle (Nijo Castle). Hotel is a a feet from the main street of Shijo-Dori street, running parallel to the Main Street, a block to the North is Nishiki -Komi market. And Gion and old town are walking distance from both end of market and end of Main Shijo-Dori street.

United KingdomThey do not have a single cupboard in the room. A small one too. Be mindful of the space area when booking. That way you can avoid complaining about the rooms.
Super close to the station. Tea and coffee provided at front desk free of cost. I like the part that bath area and wash basin is separate - efficient when getting ready. Found a lot of negative reviews on pillows - found them totally okay. I think a lot depends on what you are generally used to. The place doesn’t have an added character - just good to park yourself in Kyoto to explore around. Family mart and a lot of restaurant options around the area. Staffs were kind and willing to help.
