The Spencer Hotel, hotel in Dublin

Overlooking the River Liffey, The Spencer Hotel is 10 minutes from the famous O'Connell Bridge and 20 minutes from the Temple Bar and Grafton Street.

The facilities were great and the room exceeded my expectation. A lot of places take photos with a wide lens to make it look more spacious, but our room really was very spacious and comfortable. Especially after coming from London where the reverse was true. We did not initially book the rooms with the hotel breakfast however we did change our mind on site and it was fantastic, they provide a delicious buffet style breakfast and also offer special orders such as fried eggs or waffles at no additional cost, simply just ask a server. On our last evening I ventured down to the gym and was pleasantly surprised how very good the gym facility was. Very well stocked on gym equipment! Suffice to say, a repeat at The Spencer Hotel next time I'm in Dublin is a high likelihood!

FAQs about hotels in Dublin

Great History, Greenery and Pubs

Dublin is home to more than a quarter of the entire Republic of Ireland’s population and was originally founded as a Viking settlement. A lot has changed from those Viking days, and Dublin is now famous for its literary history and the most green-spaces of any other European capital, making Dublin a real Irish gem.

Dublin Castle is at the heart of the city's history and Trinity College holds the renowned Book of Kells, a beautifully illustrated manuscript from circa 800 AD. The Ha’penny Bridge is the city’s most photographed landmark and the statue of Molly Malone celebrates the heroine of Dublin’s unofficial anthem.

Dublin is home to many important literary figures including Oscar Wilde, William Yeats, Samuel Beckett and George Bernard Shaw. As the famous location of James Joyce’s “Ulysses”, the city offers tours tracing the protagonist’s footsteps.

Being one of the most youthful European cities, Dublin has a vibrant nightlife scene with the popular Temple Bar area and plenty of bars and pubs, which invite you to stay out until the wee hours of the morning.

The Dublin Airport is the gateway to your Irish holiday, so whether you’re looking for a stylish hotel, a self-catering apartment or a trendy hostel, Booking.com has a perfect deal for your Dublin trip.

It was my second time in Dublin so I did not do much of sightseeing. Can definitely recommend the Pig's Ear restaurant (second visit after several years and still great food) and a trip to Howth for hiking. Relatively easy hike and breathtaking views.

Dublin is a compact city, which lends itself to walking various districts; one is never too far from a pub or museum, and there's a key shopping street North and South of the river ( Liffey). Eating out is expensive, but there are green spaces ( eg St Stephen's Green and Merrion Square) for picnics, and some free museums ( eg Collins Barracks, and the Museum of Modern Art in Kilmainham). Having a city tram, the Luas, makes travel to the outskirts easier than ever.

    Dublin exceeded all expectations!

Dublin exceeded all expectations! We loved exploring as many of the pubs and restaurants as we could... Guiness and Jameson storehouses did not disappoint... So much going on all the time - the aroma of Irish cuisine, traditional Irish music and people from all walks of life spilled out into the streets of Dublin... It's senses overload for sure. Dublin is a must see and do...

Dublin is a relaxed, friendly city.

Dublin is a relaxed, friendly city. Being compact, it's easy to navigate. The hop on, hop off buses are a great way to see all the best tourist attractions, if you have limited time in the city. Three days was enough to see all the major attractions. Pubs offer well priced meals with big portions. Be prepared to have hot chips with everything!

I have visited Dublin for the last 19 years and there have been many changes, mostly with immigration. It didn't feel like the Dublin I knew and it made my heart sad. I was there because I brought a friend with me to show them the beautiful Ireland I knew. The best thing they liked in Dublin was the museum at the post office. Still love some of the pubs, especially Madigans on O'Connel St., The Irish people are still lovely, friendly and welcoming. You can find several entertaining shows in the evening and the Hop On Hop Off bus is great for sight seeing day of night, with knowledge and often entertaining drivers. There were other things I would have loved to have visited but I guess the tourism was out in full force and very crowded.

Very convenient and still nice city.

Very convenient and still nice city. Compared to other capitals like London or Paris it still feels "safe". Architecture is well looked after, people are open and helpful. Local guides are great. Attractions are a bit mix and match. Guinness factory - a very expensive pint of Guinness, not much else. Trinity College - the tour was great, the guide very good. The library nah. The food again, very good. Great places to eat usually don't have fancy store fronts El Grito, Bunsen Burgers or The Stags Head. All yummy and can be found in all sorts of places. To those in charge do something as the city is not going to stay nice and safe for long.

The location is great to anywhere in Dublin City Center; be sure to bring trainers/sneakers. If you have no car, no problem, you can take the Dublin express from the airport and be there in 3 stops (less than 30 minutes). The place was clean and very quiet. The accommodation was as shown and quite comfortable for a solo traveler or a couple. Close to grocery shopping (aldi and tesco), so there is no need to panic about having a long walk from the shops with bags. I have been many times to Ireland, and this did not disappoint.

I had established in advance with the hotel that we could leave our bags early, before check in time, but when we arrived our room was ready which was great. The location is great if visiting Dublin city centre - it was just off O'Connell Street and a couple of minutes easy walk to the Abbey Theatre, where we were headed. The staff were lovely, the beds were comfortable, the aircon kept the room at a comfortable temperature, the room was very quiet, and the shower was great. There was a safe in the room.

Central location near a lot of tourist attractions, restaurants, shopping areas, hospitals etc. Like most city centres you need to careful at night. I got street parking across the road from the hotel at the weekend. Comfortable bed and a nice room. Breakfast was superb and included in my rate which was great value for money in Dublin. Nice bar and dining room on the ground floor. Complimentary water, tea & coffee facilities in the room. Overall a good experience.

The advertising of this facility was misleading. I would have never paid €325 for a room with a bed, two chairs, no towels and shared toilets and shower. The locks did not work on toilets or bedroom in doors, owner had to work on my bedroom door to make it work properly. Any attempt to find another place was impossible due to France/Ireland Rugby Match that night. THIS IS NOT A HOTEL, it is what I would consider a Hostel, with a private room.

We can definitely recommend this hotel. It has a great location to the busy city centre. You can choose between an Irish breakfast and a continental breakfast. Continental was good. Bar was nice, you can sit downstairs, or outside. Food in the restaurants was great. Live music/Irish dance, we really enjoyed this during dinner. Rooms were comfortable. We stayed at The Wilder at the beginning and end of our tour of Ireland. On both occasions it was just a delight. The location was fantastic and the hotel is charming. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. By far, our favourite hotel to date in Ireland.

What a great location! Beautiful hotel inside and out. Also the Celtic Nights show was right next door and made for a perfect last evening in Ireland!

Handy wee number in the middle of Dublin City centre. Hotel and room are very new and fresh.
