The general area looked very nice, plenty for kids to do, shopping good also. Our experience was below our expectations due to our hotel stay, I'm sure we would have a better image if the hotel was up to standard. Great bus services, the pier was beautiful

I went just at the start of the Easter break, and it was nice and quiet, I imagine it being a popular summer resort. Good facilities with plenty of eateries. Travelling around Southend was okay, gets busy during rush-hour. Great long walks along the esplanade and the pier. A lot of the shops were closed during close-season.

I lived in Southend for many years, this was a visit to see family and attend a family gathering. The town (I will never call it a city) is a shadow of its former self. I wouldn't go to Southend unless I had a specific reason, it just isn't as welcoming as it used to be and the high street is dead.
In the summer, short break with young children who want no more than the beach and this place would be ok. There are some decent restaurants but stay out of the town centre for those.

Going around visiting places. Eating out.
Going around visiting places. Eating out. Great taxi service. Hotel was not so good. Not disabled friendly. Fell in bathroom not built for anyone who is disabled.. Hurt myself quite bad. Screaming in agony. Apart from that. Will not be staying in this hotel again

The hotel is conveniently situated across the road from Southend Central Railway Station and close to shops, restaurants, the sea front and the pier.
Although it’s over a busy Wetherspoons pub, our room was quiet and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
We had a very large twin room with a good-size bathroom. The furnishing was basic but the beds were comfortable.
It was convenient to be able to have meals and drinks in the Pub downstairs.
The room itself was nice, clean and comfortable, as was the downstairs dining area. The breakfast was delicious and the location just right if you like a nice walk along the seafront further into Southend etc. The service from the staff (particularly Laura) was excellent, all very polite, friendly and helpful. It was also pretty quiet for the most part so that's always a bonus.
Wonderful hotel centrally situated but with beautiful views over the seafront and pier. Welcoming friendly staff, delicious breakfasts and spotless room with everything I needed plus a very comfortable bed. I often find hotel rooms overly heated and no way of adjusting but the heating here was adjustable by guests. Excellent and highly recommended
Excellent location. I had the room I had seen online with seaview that I was hoping for. I had seen this hotel on my first visit to Southend on sea and had decided I would stay there one day!
Everything about my stay was excellent!
I especially liked the chain on the door! ( not had that before) , gave extra security and felt safe. Thanks!
Hotel was lovely and clean, staff were really friendly and polite. Room cleaning staff were very friendly and polite. Great veiw of airport. Easy enough to get the bus to seafront, bus stop very close to hotel. Great retail park across the road. When visiting Southend again will definitely stay at the Holuday Inn.
An excellent choice for a stay in Southend. The hotel has been recently very nicely refurbished. The owners are very friendly and helpful. A pleasant stroll along the seafront to the pier. I would recommend this hotel. Claire
Everything, the staff are amazing and the property is superb value for money. Breakfast is one of the best I have ever had and I travel every week around the UK. This is one hotel I always rebook when in Southend on Sea.
Good no fuss hotel. Bookings elsewhere were exceptionally overpriced so this gave an economical solution. Good location in nice area with parking, walking distance to town centre, seafront and Westcliff
We had tickets for an event at Cliffs Pavilion so the proximity was amazing. Easy parking out front. Lots of seating in the lobby and bar area. Breakfast in the morning was nice.
Friendly, hospitable staff. Excellent full English breakfast served in dining room in a Covid safe manner.
Excellent location on the seafront, near free public parking.
Love that the bathroom has a small heater can warm and dry up towels to be able to reuse bath towels. Love that this hotel has air conditioning, love the breakfast.
