we love all the cute shops and the restaurants in the area, the people are very friendly, the town itself is so neat to visit, lots to do from shopping, and dining to just taking a ride around town seeing all the old buildings will be back again.

Took the girlfriend for a weekend getaway.
Took the girlfriend for a weekend getaway. A town I've never been to before. Walked the town and obviously did a fair amount of visiting the stores. I enjoyed the bed and breakfast experience as opposed to a traditional hotel stay.

Galena has a nice downtown where you could spent some evenings. But it would be much cooler if all these shops and coffee bars didn't close so early in the evening. This is a kind of resort town, not a sleeping neighborhood, isn't it? :)

Need to get busing services from hotels to downtown shopping...
Need to get busing services from hotels to downtown shopping areas from the hotels especially on weekends.Jo Davies county transportation web sight said it was closed on weekends. They had Kick off to Christmas with crafts, ice skating, shopping activities and fireworks but limited parking was available and it was $10 per vehicle to park or free parking for a couple of hours. Not sure if we will return because of all the extra expense we had to pay for two vehicles to get the 6 of us there and park. Food prices were high, but most unliked thing was for our party of 6 didn't matter were we went no one would let us have our own bill. They would only do 1 check for everyone.
That made it hard knowing who owed for what all the time. Customers should be able to get their food and especially drink bills how they want them.
We ate mostly downtown lunch and dinner except for once we went to a Mexican restaurant on our way back to our hotel and the billing was the same way.
Your roads were very bumpy. We drove our personal vehicles during the day and used a private shuttle mini bus at night. Our driver was a hoot, but should not talk and drive with passengers.
Will probably avoid coming there again for a weekend shopping trip with the girls because of the things mentioned above. This was the census of others that we met at breakfast as well. They were told their was shuttles that stopped at hotels hourly as well. There were less of them so they used Uber but nothing was available for 6 or more for 3 hours and stores close early on weekends. Need more open restrooms as well. They are far and inbetween for women that like their coffee and hot coco do to the cold weather.

Lots of shops. Great food establishments and coffee shops. Many home you can tour.
We visited Grants home.
Ate at Fried Green Tomatoes- good food, a little pricey.
If you are driving thru Galena to a specific place, you can avoid traffic on Main St by going up or down a block.
We have stayed here many times and always enjoy it. The property has recently been renovated and it looks very nice, fresh. The beds and the bedding are very comfortable and the rooms are always spotless. The breakfast is a hot buffet with plenty of food. The afternoon tea time with mini sandwiches is a nice touch. They provide a trolley to the downtown area (although we have not used it). It's nice to have the pub attached to the hotel, we usually get a drink and listen to the music. Very comfortable.
Breakfast was nice. Would be great to see a couple more gluten free options. Loved, loved, loved the fireplace in the lobby & the breakfast room. Loved the quaint little bar. The decor was pleasant. Linens were better than a lot of hotels. Loved the staff, Alicia and Teri were awesome. Allie cared for my room. Left her a tip. Cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Staff like this is definitely The Stoney Creek Inn's greatest asset. This is my 2nd stay.
Great choices for breakfast, and I loved the breakfast room! Most of the time I take my breakfast back to the room, but I stayed because of the cozy cottage vibe. Loved the pool area! The hot tub was hot!! Seems like lots of hotels have "warm tubs." This was perfect after a day of hiking! The room was spotless, and we appreciated the pump soaps and lotions!
I loved that the property was not right in the middle of downtown Galena but still just a short drive. The property was very clean and the whirlpool tubs in each room are amazing and relaxing! We loved our trip so much that we came back the same week for another 3 day trip!! And we will be coming back! The staff is amazing and so nice and wonderful.
We absolutely loved our stay at The Federal House. Kate is amazingly kind and accomodating, Leanne is also amazingly kind and makes an amazing breakfast! We were so comfortable here. It is not on the Main St so it is away from the hustle and bustle but so close that it is easy to walk there. We will always book here when we come to Galena!
Carrie was an attentive and courteous hostess.
The hotel was impeccable and loved the history of the home. The game room was enjoyable. The complementary ice cream was a nice touch. The breakfast and mimosas were delicious. The location was perfect as it was a short walk downtown. Would definitely recommend and stay again
Charming, historic property in a great location, just a short walk from downtown Galena. Our room was so cozy, with a comfortable king size bed, fireplace and large bathroom with a whirlpool tub. Breakfast was nice, with quite a few options available. Nate, our host, was friendly and helpful.
The room was nice and the staff were friendly. Having the kitchen by our room was great as it had a coffee maker/coffee, full refrigerator, freezer, coffee cups and wine glasses, etc. Easy walk to downtown Galena so the location of the hotel was great.
The staff was helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The pool was big which is good when having older children. Downtown Galena isn’t far. Good variety breakfast. The restaurant Los Aztecas, was really good.
Great location, just a short drive from downtown Galena. Very clean and comfortable. One of few hotels I've been to recently that still serves an actual breakfast to guests. We will definitely be back!
Such a unique experience! So special to stay in a piece of American history. The room was gorgeous, our host Paulina was super helpful…and the town of Galena was magical!
