I was so surprised by the size of the room! I got a queen suite with kitchenette and obviously didn't read what I had booked. When I checked into my room I was mind blown! Not only did I have one bedroom; I had TWO! When I slept in the second bedroom on night 2 I also learned I had TWO BATHROOMS! now, this may not seem that exciting but, I am a mom and didn't have my family with me so a whole two bedroom apartment to myself was an absolute dream! Top it off with a starbucks, Mr Mike's and original Joe's in the parking lot. I hit the jackpot

The staff are excellent.
The staff are excellent. I have stayed here before when they did not allow pets. I had to start travelling with my elderly cat so I was staying at another hotel. They implemented a pet policy and I returned and was now told I had to stay on the first floor.
Early evening refugees were booked into the rooms all around me. Crying, baby, yelling, child, and men that went in and out in and out of their rooms. I complained in the morning and was moved down the hall to a corner room this room had no working air conditioner and my cat and I were subjected to 25 to 27 Celsius . The machine on the side of the building kept me awake the entire night. the traffic if I tried to open the window to get some cool air was horrendous with noise.
I was incredibly disappointed as I had planned to return for two more days this year, but sadly will not be returning unless they allow my Cat and I to move to the top floor where hopefully we do not have noisy refugees

Home to Oil Sands Discovery Centre explaining the history of the sands and their development. Heritage Village contains a number of vintage buildings including the home of WW I flying ace Wilfred "Wop" May. McDonald Island Park is home to a leisure centre and an Aboriginal Interpretive Trail featuring art installations by a number of Indigenous and Metis artists, and is also a good nature walk next to the Athabasca River. Mitchell's Cafe is a local institution, and recommended for take-out sandwiches and light meals. "Fort Mac" is also a good base for exploring such nearby attractions as the Syncrude "Giants of Mining" exhibit and Gregoire Lake Provincial Park.

Nothing like what you would expect.
Nothing like what you would expect. Although seemingly plagued with disasters like massive forest fires and extensive flooding, the community is very vibrant. People I met about the town were very diverse, and obviously from different backgrounds. A broad spectrum of representation for such a northern town. People were quite polite and everyone seemed busy.

I have worked in this town for years and do not like it here, especially this downtown area where a person is accosted for cigarettes or money at every turn. This visit was for a personal nature, and i have stayed at the Clearwater previously, which is why I chose to stay again.
We have stayed at the Vantage Inn & Suites twice now and both times have been wonderful. The staff at the hotel are very nice and go above and beyond when we needed anything. The lady that works in the breakfast room, I called her "smiley" because she smiles all the time. She is so nice and helped me carry my breakfast to my room, as I had my sister's breakfast and my breakfast. She gave us 2 bottles of water when we left, so we could have it for our long drive home. We will be back again.
This hotel is convenient for us to stay in Ft. McMurray as it is a short distance to our son's home. We like the price for the room and, though it is an older property, it is very well maintained. We like the continental breakfast which is included and the coffee is quite good. We have stayed here at various times through the year and have always felt it was good value for the price charged.
The staff member that checked me in and out was was amazing. I accidentally messed up the bookings and she made the extra effort to help sort out the situation with the third party bookers. I believe her name was mernie? She deserves recognition for the great job she is doing for the hotel.
Why did the hotel collect two payments (the preauthorized payment including the final invoice amount). This hotel is shady when it comes to payments. This is a scam. All pre-payments (incidents/hold fees) should be pending not a DIRECT PAYMENT!
The room where breakfast is served was well done, and so was the food. The rooms were a nice size and the finishing were fine. The hotel itself is close to restaurants such as Earls, which is convenient to walk to to.
Free breakfast was amazing! The staff were friendly from morning to night they helped me find what I was looking for like where the vending machine was. The hotel and the room itself was clean.
breakfast was excellent, good selection of food, real eggs not the fake scrambled eggs that are served at most hotels. service was very good all the staff were friendly.
Very large room. Room was clean. Bed was very comfortable. Hotel was centrally located to DT and Timberlea where we had business to attend to. Very polite staff.
