The staff was super nice and knowledgeable and it was very close to the event I was attending. The bed and pillows were comfortable. There were no bugs. The ac unit worked well and quietly.

The food was good at the free breakfast. They had scrambled eggs but no meat offerings during the 2 days we stayed. Plenty of juice options and yogurts and cereals. The location is in a business district area. You either had a view of the front parking lot or the pool area which backs up to a motel/apartment complex where huge heavy work trucks are parked. You really could not hear the large trucks from inside the room, but not much of a view at all.
Set in Red Bluff, California just off I-5 and minutes from activities on the Sacramento River, this hotel provides a free daily hot breakfast and a heated outdoor pool.

Cottonwood provides a nice departure from the hustle and bustle of Redding. It's a small town with a small town personality. Its offerings for travelers is somewhat limited, especially during these times of COVID-19. We were interested in sampling a food truck that offers Mediterranean fare (yes, you read that correctly), however the two proprietors were not providing food at the time of our stay due to the second lockdown due to the pandemic. We'll catch them another time. I suppose we must add that the temperature in the Cottonwood - Redding area was in the triple digits. It hit 113 degrees as we drove southbound on I-5 returning from Lassen National Park at around 6pm. Clearly, this was an untypical day, though it often gets a bit warmer in the region than one experiences in the San Francisco Bay Area. We both like 'countrified' places, so Cottonwood suited us just fine.
