The hosts were incredibly kind and heartwarming, as well as helpful when needed. We felt very welcomed. The house is beautiful and cozy. The shared kitchen was well equipped. The village is lovely, remote but quiet and peaceful. Highly recommended.

Nice traditional ryokan in a beautiful village in the mountains, close to World Heritage Villages Ainokura, Suganuma and Shirakawago. The staff were very kind and helpful, and agreed to change our meals when we contacted them and told them we are vegetarians. We stayed in a clean, traditional Japanese style room with a mountain view and had full access to the ryokan's onsen bath (with a warm and cold bath as well as sauna inside, and a warm bath outside).

They have many bathrooms, a lounge room and a small kitchen. I was staying alone that night so they upgraded me to a private room for no cost. They also offered to drive me to the bus stop, I found it very kind and thoughtful. The family is very kind, the place is very clean and the environment is very cozy, I am very glad I visited them.

Kota and Kanako were excellent hosts and super friendly. They have a toddler full of life who will make your day bright. The facilities are impeccable. The location is excellent for exploring the area by foot or by car. Central to two of the main UNESCO Heritage Sites, Suganuma and Ainokura villages! The food was healthy and delicious and they used a lot of their own produce. The lounge is also a great place to relax after a day of exploring. Highly recommend.

Our 2nd time in this ryokan! Love the outdoor onsen! 30 mins drive to shirakagawo! There is also 2 unesco heritage near here which is less popular than shirakagawo. Beautiful view from our room!

The location of the village of Ainokura is idyllic yet easy to reach from Kanazawa. We felt very welcome from the moment we arrived. Our hosts were delightful and we really learned a lot from Mr Higashiyama about living in the area. We enjoyed being able to walk around the village and the beautiful surrounding countryside. The meals were the best I have eaten in Japan. Every dish of local produce was beautifully presented and tasted uniquely delicious.
