The shared kitchen was well equipped. The village is lovely, remote but quiet and peaceful. Highly recommended.

The staff were very kind and helpful, and agreed to change our meals when we contacted them and told them we are vegetarians. We stayed in a clean, traditional Japanese style room with a mountain view and had full access to the ryokan's onsen bath (with a warm and cold bath as well as sauna inside, and a warm bath outside).

I was staying alone that night so they upgraded me to a private room for no cost. They also offered to drive me to the bus stop, I found it very kind and thoughtful. The facilities are impeccable. The location is excellent for exploring the area by foot or by car. Central to two of the main UNESCO Heritage Sites, Suganuma and Ainokura villages! The food was healthy and delicious and they used a lot of their own produce. The lounge is also a great place to relax after a day of exploring. Highly recommend.

Our hosts were delightful and we really learned a lot from Mr Higashiyama about living in the area. We enjoyed being able to walk around the village and the beautiful surrounding countryside. The meals were the best I have eaten in Japan. Every dish of local produce was beautifully presented and tasted uniquely delicious.CarolyneYoung couple
