The property is located some 200 m from the bus stop, it is well-organized and has good facilities. If you speak Spanish, the owner's wife will tell you everything about everything and a little more; if you do not... she would at least try. We got there in February and found out that the property is well prepared for freezing conditions - it was hot inside both in the evening and the next morning. We also liked the terrace, but could not use it much because of the weather. An excellent place to stay in Capileira (if it is available at all).

Offering a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, El Cercado is set in Andalusia’s beautiful Alpujarras Mountains. A hidden gem with fantastic views. It was so tranquil. The staff were very pleasant and the accommodation very comfortable and very clean. The breakfasts were great, a lovely selection. I can recommend the hot stone massage, it was amazing and the spa very relaxing.

We spent three nights at the end of our three weeks in Spain and would have been happy to stay longer. Mother and daughter, Paula and Megan, are wonderful hosts and a delight to get to know. Make sure to plan for dinner and breakfast there as Megan is an outstanding chef. Our meals were fresh, creative, and so attentively prepared, the best we had on her entire trip. The hotel has super comfy beds and spectacular views and is easy to find with parking on site. Berchules was a charming village to explore and we loved the 25-minute walk down to the river with a place to picnic, read, or wade in the water. We highly recommend this hotel. On a side note, the drive to Berchules is an epic drive on a comfortably winding 2 lane road. Plan to give yourself plenty of time to savor the views and photo opportunities.

My partner and I got into a car accident on the way to the hotel and Francisco, the manager, truly went above and beyond to help us—he drove us back and forth from the hotel to the town multiple times, helped us contact the local authorities, coordinated with the tow truck, all while serving us a lovely dinner and maintaining exactly the sort of calm kindness that’s so invaluable in a crisis. Honestly, he made an experience that could have completely ruined our trip into just a minor blip. Thank you, Francisco.
