Uncomfortable bed. No aircon and I couldn't open the windows, so my first night was unable to sleep because of the heat. Ask for fan the next day, and the receptionist sorted it out for me. That helped. Breakfast OK. But not real coffee. Had to pay extra for that.

The small room was adequate, however a noisy fridge kept buzzing ending with loud clicks every 15 minutes. Particularly annoying during the night. Otherwise fine.

Lovely hotel, well placed near rhe station. Lovely staff great view of Cathedral. Breakfast was okay, orange juice very weak, kept running out of crockery, eg glasses, for some reason whilst we were in the breakfast hall.

Maybe more choice on the restaurant menu. Set menu very similar to a year ago when we stayed last. Breakfast has changed a lot. Not as much choice.

The mattress was very hard and I could feel the springs unfortunately, otherwise the room and particularly the bath was beautiful.

The hotel looked after our bags for us which was really helpful. The social areas of the hotel are very grand and beautiful. The location is ideal, within easy reach of everything.

The Breakfast was very busy, lacking any personal service, A let down massively, had to keep asking for items, and not getting them,, considering the hotel is rather lovely.I would recommend going out for Breakfast unfortunately, not what you expect for the cost you pay to stay here. My room was not ready when I arrived not offered a complementary tea or coffee whilst waiting. Was here for a special occasion and it was not what I expected after travelling a rather long distance with an Elderly relative. The lounge area is very bright and a rather cosy area to unwind after a day in exploring York, Sadly no service in the evenings, long walk to bar and back to bring any drinks. People with disabilities would find this difficult. Requested for disabled parking space, when we arrived someone had already parked in the space, I had to solve the issue myself. Rooms next to a maintenance room, builders in and out with ladders etc. Should have informed us before arriving at the hotel certain areas was under maintenance. Especially when the tool room is next to the rooms you are in. Noise sadly. Looking forward to the spa and told there was a lift for people with disabilities, no lift, just a long flight of stairs. Very poor communication.

The location was perfect, Central for everything. If you pay for a garden view room beautiful views of York.

Had to wait at breakfast for some hot food to come out eg fried eggs . Took far to long to refill buffet.

In the centre, nice grounds, room lovely. Reception staff very friendly, we got a free upgrade to a suite!

The suite we had and I did my homework before booking did not resemble the pictures, we had the biggest suite and not cheap but then none of the rooms are particularly cheap, my husband went to look at the other suites and none of them were like the pictures not one chesterfield in any of them more Ikea, we booked as it was my birthday so a tad disappointing if I’m honest, but it didn’t ruin our stay we did speak to the hostel and say they need to revise the old pictures as there misleading would we go back maybe

The staff were amazing especially the reception staff in particular Laura Martin, we booked reserved parking yes it’s extra but so worth it the situation of the hotel is just perfect for walking into York so convenient, the bar areas are nice, the plush furnishing down stairs are lovely, the various restaurants are nice and food good

We had some service issues fir Afternoon Tea and once at breakfast. Staff coukd use more training - or, possibly they were understaffed.

When we went for Breakfast we waited to be seated, several staff were walking around in the breakfast area but none of them came to seat us, after around 5 minutes I walked in and sat down. The breakfast was OK for a buffet included with the room but nothing to write home about.

Lovely building in an excellent location, the Hotel and rooms were excellent reception staff were professional and friendly. The room was clean with a good selection of tea/coffee and hot chocolate.

We was very disappointed with our room. We always stay in a double room. We stayed in room 113 and the bed was absolutely rock hard and the pillows was awful. We both had a terrible night sleep due to this which has never happened before

The reception and downstairs bars are beautiful, but the rooms in our opinion let it down we had the biggest suite and it’s really quite basic it certainly needs updating we booked on the pictures we’d seen with chesterfield sofas and lush furnishings the furniture was more IKEA so was a real let down my husband did go and look at other suites but none of them had the lush furnishings so be careful, did it ruin our trip absolutely not but that was mainly the staff, and the accommodation certainly isn’t cheap so was disappointing

We paid extra to have reserved parking that was excellent for us, the position of the hotel is perfect you can leave your car and walk into York so that’s perfect, the staff are exceptional especially the reception staff especially Laura Martin she will go the extra mile and always with a smile.
